Tips for Flying with Baby

Flying with a baby can be a challenging experience for new parents, but with a little preparation, it can be a smooth journey. Here are some tips to help your travel day stress-free (or a little less stressful):

  1. Book a direct flight: I always try to book a direct flight with no layovers if possible. This will reduce the overall travel time for your baby and you.
  2. Choose the right seat: When booking your seats, choose a seat near the front of the plane, this will help you get off the plane quickly. If you are traveling with a partner, choose the aisle and window seats so that you have an extra seat for the baby.
  3. Pack essentials in your carry-on: Pack enough diapers, wipes, formula, snacks, and extra clothes for the baby in your carry-on bag. It’s helpful to bring a few of their favorite small toys to keep them entertained. I always pack a lightweight blanket for snuggles and to help cover up while nursing on the flight.
  4. Use a baby carrier: I love using my baby carrier when navigating the airport and boarding the plane. Using a carrier can help you keep your hands free and make it easier to move around the airport quickly. My daughter is used to it now, and she loves waving to others while we walk through the airport.
  5. Feed the baby during takeoff and landing: Feeding the baby during takeoff and landing can help reduce ear pressure and discomfort. I typically don’t worry as much about landing, but I always nurse during take-off to make sure my daughter doesn’t experience any pain or discomfort during the flight.
  6. Keep the baby entertained: Bring toys, books, and other forms of entertainment for the baby.

Although flying with a baby can be intimidating, with a little planning, it can go more smoothly than you think!
