Should You Join a Group Fitness Class?

Joining a group fitness class can be an excellent way to get in shape and stay motivated. Group fitness classes are led by certified instructors who can guide you through a variety of exercises, including cardio, strength, and flexibility training. Although they can be a financial commitment, there are many amazing benefits.

  1. Motivation: One of the biggest benefits of group fitness classes is the motivation that comes from working out with others. Seeing others push themselves can inspire you to work harder and achieve your fitness goals. It can also be motivating to have an instructor helping to push you. I love seeing my own progress as I take on a new class, which in turn, makes me more motivated.
  2. Accountability: When you join a group fitness class, you become accountable to the other members of the group. This can help you stick to your workout routine and stay on track. Many studios also charge you for canceling late, so you are held accountable to show up even if you don’t feel like going at the last minute.
  3. Variety: Group fitness classes offer a variety of exercises, which can help prevent boredom and keep your workouts interesting. The studios that I’ve been to are ever-changing their playlists, exercises, class structure, etc to keep it fun and engaging.
  4. Socializing: Group fitness classes offer a great opportunity to socialize and meet new people who share your fitness interests. I’ve met some amazing people in my fitness classes. It is always fun to get out of the house and interact with others in a different setting.
  5. Expert guidance: Group fitness classes are led by certified instructors who can provide expert guidance and feedback on your form and technique. This can help you avoid injury and get the most out of your workouts.

I love finding new classes that challenge me and that are out of my comfort zone. It’s nice to challenge yourself to try something new. You may end up loving it more than you’d ever think!
